| Description | In an interview published recently in the media, Chairman of the Egyptian Society for the Revamping of Packaging & Wrapping, Dr. Eng. Abdel Malek Al Asfouri, predicted Egypt market for packaging & wrapping is now estimated at L.E. 7 billion per year. Dr. Al Asfouri stressed the fact that packaging & wrapping is deemed an integrated function intermingling with a wide variety of industries including agriculture, food & agro industries, chemical, pharmaceutical, construction materials, also petroleum, engineering & electronic industries. He further claimed most inputs of the packaging & wrapping industry are imported from abroad inspite of disposing on ample reserves of relevant raw materials of cellulose rich rice straw, petrochemicals & metals [such as aluminum], not to overview glass & silica sand. He further stressed that low quality packaging & wrapping was behind rejection of numerous export shipments. He further indicated that packaging & wrapping offer huge opportunities for small to medium sized projects, to produce/ recycle packaging & wrapping inputs to large factories. Interview is deemed an utmost interesting piece of marketing literature to all concerned parties. N.B.
