Households energy consumption in 2003/2004 now make up 37.4 % of the country energy output followed by industry with 35.6 % share. That was announced by Dr. Eng. Mohamed Awad head of EEHC – Egyptian Electricity Holding Co. indicating that third ranking were the Public Utilities with 11.3 % followed by the agriculture with 4.1 %. He further revealed that Egypt electricity exports via the electric link [with Jordan & Libya] reached 981 MW during the year. Development marked a 7.1 % growth in energy consumption above previous year levels. [That is placing huge burdens on future investment requirements in the energy sector]. |
