ADB – African Development Bank has endorsed $ 270 million soft loan to part finance third extension of Kureimat 750 MW power station. Project is part of the Energy Sector 2007 – 2012 plan which projects adding 8,475 MW to the country power generation capacities. Implementing agency is UEEPC – Upper Egypt Electricity Production Co. Months earlier both AFESD – Arab Fund for Economic & Social Development and KFESD – Kuwaiti Fund for Economic & Social Development endorsed another $ 200 million soft loan to part finance Cairo West Power Station Extension. Development confirms confidence of international financing institutions in Egypt future economic potential and facilitates accessing further credits for national development projects. |
