Eight new concession agreements were recently signed for onshore and offshore petroleum exploration & exploitation covering 20,000 Km2 area under $ 274 million committed investments to drill 60 wells apart from $ 62 million signature bonus. Winners of the concessions included Japanese, Italian, US, UK and Greek companies, among others. Development reflects reasonably strong confidence of the world economy in Egypt future potential. It also confirms a healthy diversification of the country resources, which could contribute to digest certain unforeseen problems or difficulties in the short term. |
