According to Egypt Minister of Transport, Dr. Eng. Essam Sharaf, a Chinese consortium has expressed interest to implement, under B.O.T., three free highways projects involving up to L.E. 3.4 billion investments. They include a 260 km long road to link Sohag with the Red Sea (L.E. 700 million), another 95 km long extension of the Cairo Rind Road (L.E. 1.2 billion) and a third new 200 km long Cairo/ Alex free highway (L.E. 1.5 billion). The Minister has indicated that feasibility of the second project (Cairo Ring Road Extension) is now studied under Euro 800,000 grant. |
