| Description | QIZ Administration Unit, established at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Industry, would soon start delivery of accreditation certificates to 397 Egyptian industrial companies, which have been qualified to export their products to the US under the QIZ Protocol [including an 11.7 % Israeli component]. Head of the Unit, Dr. Eng. Ali Awni, said the Unit intends to inform qualified companies, via E-Mail, about the US market developments & its present inputs, also about service agencies capable to facilitate exports among other important information. The executive added that the Unit would continue receiving further applications from companies located at qualified zones to be referred to the trilateral committee grouping representatives of Egypt, the US & Israel for approval/ accreditation. On his side, Egypt Minister of Foreign Trade & Industry, Eng. Rashid Mohamed Rashid, was quoted in the media indicating that he would visit the US during the first half of March 2005 for talks to pave the way for formal negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between both countries. Meanwhile media reports [ Al Alam Al Yom of 2/28/2005 ] have quoted a report released by CAPMAS – Central Agency for Public Mobilization & Statistics – indicating that Egypt/ Israel foreign trade volume during the first 10 months of 2004 has increased by some 30 % to L.E. 115.5 million, up from L.E. 85.5 million during the same period of 2003. According to the report, imports from Israel have increased during the period by L.E. 22.7 million while exports thereto have declined by L.E. 2.8 million. |
