| Description | ENTRO – Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office has received a grant from the African Development Fund & intends to apply part of the proceeds to finance the so called Eastern Nile Power Trade Program Study. The principal objective of this project is to promote regional power trade through the creation of an environment & coordinated plans enabling the development of power generation & transmission interconnection projects. Study shall be carried in two phases. The first phase will go in two parts running in parallel. Part 1 will focus on developing a strategy to create an environment enabling effecting power trade. That covers determining capacity margins to meet demands, wheeling, cost sharing, information sharing, model bilateral contracts, common planning, design & operation standards. Part 2 covers coordinated planning & development of regional power generation & transmission interconnection projects. This will include an assessment of demands, power trade opportunities & supply, delivery & interconnection options leading to the formulation of a regional investment program consisting of regionally prioritized generation projects & regional power interconnection involving Ethiopia, Sudan & Egypt. Also included in Part 2 are the preparation of three pre-feasibility studies for hydro power sites & Dam sites. Phase 2 of the project involves a feasibility study of the lowest cost power interconnection schemes involving all three countries. ENTRO is now requesting expression of interest among consulting firms to provide services required for the so called Eastern Nile Power Trade Program Study sponsored by the Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office – ENTRO under funding by a grant from the African Development Fund. Interested firms must provide a statement of capability & experience indicating that they are qualified to perform the services. This invitation is open to consultants from eligible source countries as per African Development Bank guidelines. A shortlist of 5 – 7 firms will be compiled.
